Earth Day and Love
Happy Earth Day everyone! Celebrating Earth day is kind of like celebrating your birthday. You are happy about it but there is a kind of melancholy that comes because another year has passed and you aren’t sure if things are getting better. Are we doing everything we can to fight climate change? Probably not, but I believe that each one of us is doing their best in the face of this monster of a problem. Compassion is important in this situation. How can we do better? Ultimately, I believe that the way we will solve this crisis is together. While governments and corporations wield enormous power, we the people, also have power. When we get together and tell governments what is important to us, they listen and (sometimes)act. When we refuse to buy products that corporations offer or boycott them because of their policies and positions, they pay attention. Look at the Netflix boycott when they tried to cancel Jimmy Kimmel’s show.
My husband wisely tells me that we were put on this earth to love and to be loved. Love is what motivates us to action. We want to protect and help others. David Suzuki writes about how love is essential in addressing the climate crisis:

and I couldn’t agree more. Why then are we all so focused on money?
Please show the Earth and your favorite humans some love this Earth day.
Love to all of you for reading this! Please comment if this resonated for you.
